Refund policy

Exchanges Only, On Specific Items

To keep costs low and reduce waste, our items are made to order. Because of this, we do not accept returns or offer refunds. However, we do allow exchanges in specific cases, as outlined below.

Please note: Scarves and tote bags are not eligible for returns or exchanges, unless arriving damaged or defective.

Defective or Damaged Items

If your item arrives damaged or defective, we’re happy to replace it at no cost to you.
Please email us at hello@statementspecies.com within 14 days of delivery. Items must be unworn, in new condition, and have any original tags attached. Photo proof is required of the damage / defect. 

Items That Don’t Fit

Please double-check the sizing charts listed in each product description and use a measuring tape if possible—we want you to get it right the first time!

But we understand that sometimes items just don't fit as expected, and you are allowed to exchange your item for a new size. Here’s how our fit exchange policy works:

  • Please request an exchange here.
  • This applies to all items except scarves and tote bags which only come in one size. 
  • You must request an exchange within 14 days of delivery.
  • Items must be unworn, in new condition, and have any original tags attached.

  • Exchanges must be for the same item in a different size. E.g., You can't exchange a t-shirt for a scarf, or a yellow shirt for a white shirt. 

  • All exchanges are one-time only. Exchanged items cannot be exchanged again.

  • You are responsible for purchasing return shipping. We will provide you an address.

  • When you mail your item back, you must include within the package the original packing slip or include a note that says: Statement Species Return, your name, order number. This helps us identify you as the customer. If we don't have this information, we cannot process your return.

  • You will be given 14 days from the time your request is approved to get your item(s) in the mail to send to us. Items sent after this time will be rejected. We will notify you once your item(s) have been received and inspected.
  • Once we receive and inspect your item, your new size will be sent out via standard shipping. You will not be charged for us to ship this to you.

  • Occasionally, our sizes come in different prices. If your new size is more expensive, you won't need to pay the difference, but if your new size is less expensive, you will not be reimbursed for the difference.

Because of these limits, we don’t recommend ordering multiple products of the same product type unless you're confident in the fit. Thoughtful orders help reduce waste and support our slow fashion mission.

Inspections Process

After recieving your item, we will inspect it prior to mailing out your new item. To be eligible for an exchange, items must be unworn, unwashed, and in original condition with tags attached (if applicable).

We do not accept returns that show signs of wear, including but not limited to:

  • Deodorant or makeup stains

  • Fragrance, smoke, or other odors

  • Pet hair or lint

  • Washed, altered, or damaged items

Returns that do not meet these standards will be rejected and we are unable to resend items back to you. If you have any questions about this process, please contact us prior to mailing us your items.

Address Changes

We will assume your new items should be sent to the original shipment address. If your address has changed, please inform us via email at hello@statementspecies.com PRIOR to us recieving your return. We are not responsible for items being sent to the wrong address.
